Matcha spritz

Non-Alcoholic Matcha Spritz

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial or culinary grade matcha green tea powder
  • 2 teaspoons hot water (about 80°C or 175°F)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or soda water
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Matcha Concentrate. In a small bowl, combine matcha green tea powder with hot water. Whisk the matcha and water until it forms a smooth and frothy paste. Ensure there are no lumps.

  2. Sweeten the Matcha Concentrate. While the matcha paste is still warm, add honey to it. You can adjust the amount of honey according to your taste. Stir well until the honey completely dissolves into the matcha.

  3. Create the Matcha Base. Pour the sweetened matcha concentrate into a glass filled with ice cubes.

  4. Add Sparkling/Soda Water. Carefully pour sparkling or soda water into the glass over the matcha concentrate. Be cautious, as it may fizz up when the soda comes into contact with the matcha.

  5. Add Lemon/Lime Juice. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice into the prepared drink.

  6. Stir and Garnish (Optional). Use a long stirrer or a spoon to gently mix the matcha concentrate and soda water until well combined. Garnish your Matcha Spritz with lemon or lime slices, or a sprig of mint if desired.

  7. Serve and Enjoy. Your Matcha Spritz is now ready to enjoy. Sip it slowly and savor the unique blend of matcha and soda water flavors. It's a perfect refreshing beverage for a warm day or a unique alternative to a regular iced drink.

Feel free to adjust the sweetness and matcha strength to suit your taste. You can also experiment with different sweeteners such as agave syrup or maple syrup if you prefer alternatives to honey. Enjoy your homemade Matcha Spritz!
